is a sound-artist who moves around in different areas within contemporary music. Where before he focused on making harsch-noise as "Hyware" and techno-rhythm-based noise as "Technoise", he now creates his own version of "glitch", as you can hear on his
latest CD on Staalplaat called "~Sine", where he combines sine-waves with digital clicks which he programmed into dub-techno rhythms. On "Audio-NL" he released a minimal-techno record of fragile click techno patterns. Furthermore he runs the record label "ERS"

Nach langer Zeit präsentiert die manchmal etwas geheimnisvolle Xyramat (Klangkünstlerin, DJ mit diversen Veröffentlichungen, Stipendiatin der Hamburger Kulturbehörde ... ) eine neue und andere Version ihrer elektronischen, skurrillen Pop-Musik, diesmal live und nicht an den tuntables. Live wird es dieses Mal brutaler, direkter und emotionaler, wie üblich abseits von Vorbildern und streng reglementierten Ideologien. Entscheidend ist, was ihr gefällt. Festplatte werden mit Hilfe elektronischer Kleingeräte live zusammengemischt, dazu
Texte gelesen oder eingespielt und der Film "3h dream" ( als Geheimagent in den
Verliesen der Post) von Jens Krebs gezeigt.
Gareth Mitchell (a.k.a. Philosopher's Stone) (GB)
Gareth Mitchell, otherwse known as Philosopher's Stone, is about to release his third album, "Sections 1-6", for the Dutch experimental label ERS. The album marks a development from his first two albums of self-made, guitar sampled, highly detailed electronica for Chicago based label Kranky ("Preparation", 1997 and "Apparatus", 1999), as he moves into exploring
areas of amorphous, burgeoning, organic sound contrasted with tracks of abrasive, industrial, rapid-spliced digital editing.
Mitchell has been involved for many years with the experimental music scene, having at one point been a member of English post-rock group AMP, with whom he recorded several albums, singles and 12''s. He is a regular live performer, utilizing live sampling techniques via laptop and has given concerts in the last year in such locations as New York's Knitting Factory and Barcelona's Online Flash Film Festival. In the new year, he is due to play in Rotterdam at a festival of ERS acts, as well as in Amsterdam at Staalplaat's Mixer venue.

Started in the early 80ies to make hid own sound. At forst he was influenced by the asthetics of Futerismen and Dada - antistatement of society and music. Franz de Waard (Vital, kip, Staalplaat) called it as some of the hardest music in Eurpe. Some years later he discovers the possibilities of natural sound phenomenia, the structure and signals of sound around us and the images of being there. Then he started his own record label with smartman Stickel "Wachsender Prozess" for noise culture based sounds, together with Reznicek and Knoth publication of a magazine (Odradek) about electroacoustic, electronic music and a two weekly radio programme (Radio Gagrin) dealing with experimental music, realisation of own short films and active as DJ and Soundmixer.
